HERi participates in annual festivities in Anjoma region
HERi was invited to participate in Kianjavato’s celebrations for World Environment Day (9–10 June) and Anjoma’s regional fair (13–16 June). Participants at the former event, held in the town’s primary school, included the Peace Corps, the National Park of Ranomafana and the organizations FOFIFA, PROSPERER and Madagascar Biodiversity. The mayors of Kianjavato and Manakara were also present, as were the regional directors of the Ministry of Water and Forests and representatives from the region of Vatovavy Fitovinany. The event included a carnival, speeches, reforestation activities by local school students, expo stands and entertainment activities.
At the regional fair in Anjoma, which hosted 19 expo stands and some 250 visitors, HERi displayed its solar products and carried out outreach activities to educate the villagers on the benefits of sustainable energy. The event was covered by five regional radio stations and national television. HERi was interviewed by Radio Mampita, a station covering the whole Haute Matsiatra region, about its activities throughout Madagascar. The station also interviewed one of the kiosk entrepreneurs and one of the kiosk’s customers about their experiences with the lanterns. A number of other private companies, NGOs and representatives from local and regional public authorities were also in attendance.
